What is biocompatibility?
Biocompatibility refers to the types of materials placed in your mouth during a dental procedure. Biocompatible materials are as neutral as possible and will not cause adverse allergic reactions or negative responses on the immune system. We are able to examine different materials to find those that are in symbiosis with the body.
Ideally, a biocompatible material prevents the following
• Allergic reactions
• Inflammation
• Irritation
• Cancer
• The body's reaction to foreign materials
What is Functional Dentistry?
Functional dentistry focuses on improving physiological functioning using primary methods in order to improve the health of patients, including those affected by chronic diseases. This personalized dentistry approach treats the causes at the source. Functional dentistry practitioners provide resources for planning care focusing on diet, nutrition and exposure to environmental toxins, which play a dominant role in predisposing to certain diseases.
